Recent paintings by Eric Zener show his use of the natural world as a metaphor for dramatic moments of personal decision and change.
The subjects in my paintings are voyagers and seekers of truth, says Zener. Free from the obligations of daily life, the quiet landscape of a body of water provides both a literal and psychological place of discovery and confession.
With great style and attention to form, Zener depicts the human figure in solitary reflection; suspended between the moments of immersion and surfacing, his divers capture the essence of transformation and an individuals quest for meaning.
